BOB HAVENS

My introduction to fine art began as a college freshman in New Jersey. I liked the watercolor process but was unable to pursue it at that time due to marriage, family and career. In 1979 while living in Belmont NC I attended the Gastonia Gazette Starving Artists Art Fair. I met a watercolor artist who invited me to attend one of his classes in York SC. He became my watercolor mentor and eventually we entered outdoor art shows in Myrtle Beach, Southport and Blowing Rock. During the year of 1981 | was President of the York County Art Guild. In 1983 l moved to Granite Falls but was only able to dabble in art because of my full time job in sales.

In 1991 my wife and I moved to Greenville SC where I worked until retirement in 1993. It was then that I picked up

my brushes again and entered art shows in both Carolinas. I displayed my art in The Art Cellar in downtown Greenville for 4 years. I was then asked to be a founding member of a new Art Gallery in Travelers Rest, SC, The White Rabbit, sponsored by the Travelers Rest Art Guild. I was President of The White Rabbit Art Gallery in 2017. And in 2018 | helped two artist friends open a new gallery, The Wild Hare, also located in Travelers Rest. I am still displaying some of my artwork there but I have recently moved back to Granite Falls. I am currently painting watercolors and working with alcohol ink.
